Wreath Laying at Arlington National Cemetery
Come join the DC Spartans to help place wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012.
We will meet at the Visitors Center entrance at 9:00 a.m. before attending a volunteer briefing at 9:30 a.m. at the Memorial Amphitheater near the Tomb of The Unknowns.
Arlington National Cemetery will be open to the public at 8:00 a.m. with **limited** free parking in the Visitor's Center Parking Lot from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Since parking will be very limited, we encourage the use of the metro if possible (the blue line).
There is no sign-up or registration required. Just show up at the designated time and place.
Wreaths Across America is a national non-profit organization with more than 500 participating locations that carry out its mission to remember, honor, and teach by placing wreaths on veteran’s graves during the holiday season. It is their goal to cover the entire cemetery this year - some 224,000 graves!

2012 CAN Spartan Co-ED Hoop Schedule
Home games we wear white, away games we wear green.
For games that we referee, two of us have to stay, with one person working the book at the scorers table, and one person officiating the game. Anybody can volunteer for ref duties, feel free to step up.
Minnie Howard is located at 3801 W. Braddock Rd, and John Adams is located at 5651 Rayburn, both schools are in Alexandria.
The cost is going to be $26. Waivers will be sent to everyone prior to the first game. The rules are basic college rules.

The DC Spartans are joining the Baltimore Spartans at Camden Yards in Baltimore on Saturday, July 14, to watch the Detroit Tigers play the Orioles. You have two options to cheer on the Tigers with your fellow Spartans:
1) Tickets and round-trip bus transportation: Tickets to the game and round-trip bus transportation are $45. The bus will leave from Cap Lounge (231 Penn Ave SE -- near the Capitol South Metro Station) at 4:30 PM and will return to Cap Lounge following the game.
2) Tickets only: For $20, you get a ticket to the game and you provide your own transportation and parking.

Featuring MSU Alumni Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell

Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell, former Michigan State football player and America’s top heavyweight contender, will represent the green and white in the “Capital Showdown: Khan vs. Peterson” co-featured bout taking place on Dec. 10 in Washington, DC at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The fight marks big-time boxing’s return to the nation’s capital, and Mitchell will be close to his hometown of Brandywine, Md. when he takes on tough contender Timur Ibragimov in the event.
Mitchell played for the Spartans from 2002-04, leading the team in 2003 by averaging 10.6 tackles per game and coming in second in defensive production. Going into his junior season in 2004, Mitchell was a preseason All-Big Ten selection, but knee injuries and resulting knee surgery sidelined him and prematurely ended his football career. After finishing his degree, it was then that Mitchell turned to boxing, and he now is 23-0-1 (17 KO’s) as a professional fighter and displays his Michigan State pride everywhere he goes. The December fight also will be televised live on HBO’s World Championship Boxing, marking Mitchell’s HBO debut.
