   Virginia License Plate Initiative

Are you familiar with the MSU vanity plates in MI? Did you know that VA allows for college license plates? Did you know that there are not any MI schools and only two Big Ten schools represented in VA ( Penn State and Ohio State )?

We want MSU to be the first college from Michigan to be represented in Virginia! Local alum Kevin Halicki has created a detailed plan to help us accomplish this goal. The first part of the plan is to gauge the interest of our VA alum. You will be receiving a poll question via the Yahoogroup shortly. In order to insure accuracy, we are asking only VA residents or alums that have VA plates to respond (we will be doing a similar initiative for MD and DC does not have a college license plate program).  Here are some brief points of interest:

The Commonwealth of Virginia requires a minimum of 350 pre-paid applications.  There is a $25 annual plate fee added to your DMV plates/registration fees, there is an additional $10 additional fee if you want a personalized plate or to keep your personalized plate you already have.  Once the DMV receives the 350 paid applications, it takes approximately 9 months to get them processes, produced and sent out to customers.

Would you be likely to purchase a Michigan State University Virginia license plates (to be answered in poll)? We will be posting a mock up of the plate and details of our plan on www.dcpsartans. com shortly.
